International Conference of NGOs – UNESCO

As Clowns Without Borders International has been a consultative partner of UNESCO since September 2015, we will be attending the International Conference of NGOs, taking place in Paris from December 12th to December 14th. The conference will deal with “The challenge of the digital revolution for NGOs”. Our partnership with UNESCO is very precious to us, because we recognize ourselves in the same values. Indeed, through its unique approach using performing arts at the service of the most vulnerable populations, Clowns Without Borders share Unesco's core fields of competence: - Cultural dialogue and creativity: CWBI gives strong examples of cultural diversity by performing with artists from different cultures, different areas of the world (developed / developing countries), different arts, languages, etc. on stage together. - Promoting a culture of peace and tolerance, living together: Coming together to be a part of the same audience and laughing together is a key step in peacebuilding. Non-verbal & non-violent communication. - Youth and non-formal education: our performances enable the young audiences to reinforce cognitive capacities such as listening skills, group behavior, multi-levels interpretation, communication with others through play and humor literacy. - Promoting the well-being and the dignity of all human beings: we advocate for the right to have a childhood. During this conference, we will witness the achievements of the NGO UNESCO liaison committee regarding what has been done to increase this partnership.

Welcome CWB Austria, our 14th member!

We are very pleased to welcome among CWBI's community our new Austrian member - Clowns ohne Grenzen Österreich - which brilliantly went through its application process and have received the support of its mentor CWB Germany since 2014. They have consistently proved their capacity and willingness to become a new chapter during the projects they carried out in partnership with other chapters. They went on tours in Nepal in 2014, Panama in 2015, participated to a joint mission with CWB Canada in Haïti, and went to Romania in 2016 with CWB Belgium, a project in partnership with Caritas and Save The Children. In addition to their international projects, they also implemented shows and workshops to relieve the suffering of children and families in refugee centers and in Austria. They performed in Macondo, the historical refugee settlement in Vienna which was opened in 1956, and offers shelter to almost 2000 people fleeing their country. They were officially integrated to CWBI on December 6th, during our quarterly board meeting. We wish them to continue their hard work and to give out smiles to a lot of children by our sides! Please visit their website: and their Facebook page: for more information!
