The aim of the mission is to support children between 0 and 3 years old who are having treatment in the nutritional unit of the Hospital de Bobo Dioulasso. The project bases on reducing the effects of malnutrition through stimulating psychomotor skills. After 3 years, the project has already given positive results at the research level, demonstrating that the activity of our clowns reduces mortality and accelerates the recovery of children affected by severe malnutrition.
The project includes: Sessions of sensory and psychomotor stimulation, awareness about malnutrition and the training for “mamayasas” (mamas-clowns whose children suffered from the malnutrition before and who are now volunteering for the other children). In total: 251 sessions for 780 children and 1452 of their care givers.
The sensibilization actions consisted in shows of teatro forum to promote good practices of alimentation and hygiene aiming to prevent the malnutrition and malaria (60 shows) and workshops for the women in rural communities to promote good practices of alimentation and hygiene aiming to prevent the malnutrition and malaria (106 workshops for 6252 people).
